Past Lives

Past Lives

This experience we call deja vu is having experienced something already without having experienced it before.  The feeling is so certain – absolutely certain – you have done this before, seen this person, this place – this is deja vu.

This occurs because deep in your unconscious, you are carrying all the memories of all your past lives.  You are not living for the first time only this life.  No.  You have lived many lives, many deaths.  Thousands  of lives and deaths.  Life is far bigger than birth and death.

Life begins at the point of your past life’s death.  When a child is born you may think this is the beginning.  This is not true – and when a man dies, it is not the end.  Your life began far before you entered your mother’s womb.  All the things that happened in lives before, all successes, frustrations, all failures, betrayals, love affairs, all experiences that were clung to, the Lord Buddha calls desire.

And when you are dying, the whole of this life will run before your eyes – before the body is leaving.  The body is not going, the mind is not going with you, the brain is not going with you, but desire released from the mind will cling to the soul and decide your future life.  Whatever you collected, what you have brought with you like a seed, that seed will become a tree, bring forth fruit, flowers, and thorns.  The whole blueprint is there in the seed.

Everybody can penetrate to past lives.  You simply need enough practice to be meditative enough to remain aware past a certain door, a certain unconscious gateway.  Once you penetrate that door, a flood of memories come rushing to you.

The significance of this is to see the karma in our lives.  It can be a great wake up.  You can see patterns as anceint as you are.  Once you see how many love affairs you have had, how you have wanted power and money and many times even attained this wealth and prestige, for thousands and thousands of years, you begin to see the endless cycle.  You have lived every every possible experience.  And the same pattern is repeating over and over.

Existence moves in a circle, not a straight line.  It is like a rotating wheel of seasons.  If one can see clearly that for many lives they have repeated the same experiences, you will come to one burning question: How to get free from the unconscious actions, unconscious imprisonment – how to awaken and break this chain of suffering over and over?  How to end the cycle of life and death?  How to become absolutely conscious?

**Over the years from my personal practice, three lives and deaths have been recalled…a small African boy drowning…a woman in France dying of lung disease..and the echoing voice of a master I met in the orient.  These events for me personally came in rushes. While sitting and entered penetrating silence, suddenly memories would flash, over and over..recall.  These memories would come for maybe two to three days and then cease coming.  It would happen spontaneously.  Then silence again.

The benefit was seeing the karma!   And the silent understanding of why so many events have come to be in this life. Understanding the tree and its fruit.

Deja Vu!  It seems I’ve done this before!

Exposing our Deepest Feelings and Vulnerabilities Takes Great Trust

To be willing to expose our deepest feelings and vulnerability takes great trust. It takes great inner strength, and courage.  Courage to know that even if the other betrays you, you will remain open. It is beautiful to trust.

Beautiful…and difficult.  But if you look deeply into the difficulty, you will see it is not exactly that you do not trust.  If you watch you will find it is simply a lack of courage.  Then things can be different.  When you know it is fear – not distrust – then you can decide to have courage.  And remember always, it is natural to feel this fear.  It exists in everybody. So don’t label yourself as a coward.  The fear of the unknown exists in everybody.  One simply has to go slowly and move beyond the known.  Having the courage to step forward…you can always come back (big smile!) (with a little knowledge and experience!)

Everyone is in this catch 22…without trust we feel fear..which again fuels our distrust and lack of courage. So the first thing we must do to be able to trust is accept yourself.  Accept yourself fully.  If you can come to accept yourself fully, you will not be concerned about respect, you will not need to worry about saving your face.   You can be trusting, just as an innocent child.  And what does it mean to be trusting as an innocent child?  It means you are showing the highest kind of love – trust.  It is the purest love.  It is uncontaminated love – uncontaminated by any desire.

But you can only do this if you are not thinking about consequences.  Do not bother about what will happen, just be willing to act according to your own being, to your own spontaneity.  You must have the courage to move beyond society and what they have told you what is ‘right’.   But if you trust someone with a motive, it is not trust…you will become fearful again. You are using the person. If you think by trusting someone you will attain happiness, then you will not be able to trust. You are using them. They have become a means to an end.  That is not very respectful. Just live moment to moment…with no outcome in mind.   Then not the outcome, but the trust is the bliss…just the act of trusting gives one a feeling of blissfullness.

With practice and experience, you will come to say anything and everything you feel, sincerely – with no concern of consequences.  Even if you feel the fear, the hesitation, all it takes is a little courage.  And you can also encourage the other person to be intimate.  Your openess will help the other person also to be open.

What you will come to find out is that not only were you feeling fear, so was the other..not only are you concerned about your weakness, but the other too has weaknesses -you will begin to feel more trusting, less as strangers.

And always remember that everything that is beautiful, precious is also only momentary.  We want to cling, hold on and make every precious moment permanent.  It simply cannot be.  Always know perfectly well that tomorrow cannot be promised.  What you know, what you share with someone is precious because it is momentary.  We become very frustrated when we try to cling.  And when we become frustrated, a distance grows between you, you begin fighting…and what was meant to be beautiful, to be moments of happiness just become one big long misery (laughing!).

But if you can become unafraid of being intimate with someone, it can become a great transformation.  You begin to become not only unafraid of the other, but most importantly, you become unafraid of yourself.  You begin to drop everything that you once were ashamed of.  You realize your own beauty.  You realize life…!

To become intimate and trust someone means that the doors of your heart are open.  It means that you welcome another to be a guest.  You are allowing each other to be innocent as children, no fear…just opening yourself to be seen, as you are.

When Public Relations turn to Rejection and Ridicule…

Working with the public, with people, there is the constant problem of rejection, ridicule, ‘dramas,’ misunderstandings.   I have seen many people suffering uselessly what cannot be avoided. Developing a talent for handling these rejections can be very useful!!!

Don’t expect thanks
It is natural to think that people will be thankful when you share yourself with them. You are bringing them a gift, the greatest gift there is, the gift of yourself. It is very natural to feel that people will be thankful to you.
Don’t expect it. Expect just the contrary, that people will never be able to forgive you. The greater gift you bring to them, the greater will be their anger. They will crucify you, they will poison you – expect things like that.

Hope for the best, but expect the worse. If they don’t kill you, be thankful to them.

Don’t expect anyone to be thankful for you. On the contrary, be thankful if something wrong is being done to you. That is natural. You should know well, you should expect it. If it doesn’t happen, that is a miracle!
If you are being Yourself, truly being Authentic, the society will be against you, the society will create misery for you. You will have to suffer many kinds of things – bad reputation.

Ignore misery and bad reputation….

It is very difficult to ignore misery and bad reputation. You will find people and circumstances that are against you wherever you go. You will certainly gain a bad reputation. It is natural. Just to be associated with any particular thought or idea and some people will start to ridicule you, think of you as mad or something.
Only those rare seekers will be able to ignore all the misery and bad reputation. Those who are just curious, they will not be able to. Acceptance and surface was too important to them. But if you are sincere, you can just ignore the misery and bad reputation. If you can do this, you are fortunate! Only the courageous ones, only the true seekers will be able to ignore everything, will be able to sacrifice everything, will be able to stake everything.
If people are speaking poorly of you:
Drop the people, ignore what they say. Instead, pour your whole energy into one thing: How to drop this ego-clinging.  How to see your own attachment!  How to release your own co-dependence!
Once the ego is no more there, you will be able to smile. You will see more clearly the nonsense. You will be able to see how people are sleepwalking, they just bumped into you. The mistake was you thought they were awake. They are not! Forgive them.
Forgive them.

Forgive them.

Why all the Misery?

Misery give you a very crystallized ego. In misery you are crystallized. In happiness, you are diffused. You must live moment to moment entering the unknown. Can you see this? If you are miserable there’s something solid to relate to, the misery!

Misery makes you special. No one has your specific misery. Happiness is a universal phenomenon, there’s nothing special about it. Trees are happy and animals are happy and birds are happy. The whole existence is happy, except man. Being miserable, man becomes very special, extraordinary! Wouldn’t be extraordinary to see a miserable squirrel? Now that would be special! Nothing extraordinary about a happy squirrel.

Misery makes you capable of attracting people’s attention. Whenever you are miserable you are attended to, sympathized, loved. Everybody starts taking care of you. Who wants to hurt a miserable person? Who is jealous of a miserable person? Who wants to be antagonistic to a miserable person? That will be too mean.

The miserable person is cared for, loved, attended to. There is great investment in misery. I notice if my children were not miserable, they might get totally forgotten. Sitting being happy, you don’t get much attention. Just a little misery and the whole house comes running! If you’re miserable you’re not so alone, one has a family, friends.

Nobody likes a happy person, because the happy person hurts the egos of the others. The others start feeling, “So you have become happy and we are still crawling in darkness, misery and hell. How dare you be happy when all are in such misery!”

There are reasons we are attached to misery. You just look into your misery, watch, and you will be able to find what are the reasons. And then look into those moments when once in a while you allow yourself the joy of being in joy. And then see what differences are there. Notice: when you are miserable you are a conformist. Society loves it, people respect you. You are conforming to something that does not fit you, and you’re miserable. But you are respected by society. People feel more friendly towards you. Another reason people are miserable is because if you’re happy, people will be jealous of you. You will have less friends. They will feel cheated around you. So we have even learned to repress happiness and to express misery! It has become our second nature.

Be happy, respect happiness, and help people to understand that happiness is the goal of life. We have to learn a totally new language. We have to learn the language of health, wholeness, happiness.

Happiness needs talents, genius, creativity. Only creative people are happy. Misery needs no talents; anybody can afford it. Only creative people are happy. Happiness is a byproduct of creativity. Create something, and you will be happy. Create a garden and when the flowers bloom, something in you will also bloom. Create a painting, and something in you will start growing. As you are completing the painting, suddenly you will realize you are different, not the same person anymore. You have changed. Something new is in you! Write a poem, sing a song, dance a dance, and you start to become happy.

Life is an opportunity to be creative. If you are creative you will be happy. It needs intelligence to be happy. It will be arduous. But when you’ve reached the peak and you lie down, whispering with the clouds, looking at the sky, the joy that fills your heart, that joy comes always whenever you reach any peak of creativity, you will know happiness.

It needs intelligence to be happy, and people are taught to remain unintelligent. Society does not need intelligent people. Society needs stupid people, because stupid people are manageable. An intelligent person is not necessarily obedient, they may or may not. It will up to him or her, you see? The stupid person needs somebody to command him or her, because they have no intelligence of their own.

Without intelligence there can be no happiness. Man can only be happy if he is intelligent, utterly intelligent. Meditation is a device to release your intelligence. The more meditative you become, the more intelligent you become. And when I say intelligence, I don’t mean intellectual. An intellectual knows nothing, that’s why he is an intellectual. He is not meditative, he is a robot, repeating, repeating, repeating what he’s read, studied, been told. Intelligence is a totally different phenomenon. It comes from YOUR center. It wells up in you, and with it many things start growing in you. You become happy, creative, you become rebellious, adventurous, you start loving insecurity, you start moving into the unknown. You start living dangerously, because that’s the only way to live!

May you have an interesting life, and a Happy New Year!

The Mysteries Of AUM

When the mind is totally empty, without any clamor of words, without even a ripple of thought, even then the sound of the void remains. The void also speaks; the void has its own sounds. Go and stand in a very secluded place where there is not a single sound and you will find that emptiness has its own music. Seclusion has its own kind of sound, and in this silence only the basic notes remain – a-u-m. When all words, all sounds are lost, these basic notes remain.

In the emptiness of the mental body the resonance of aum is captured. If the meditator makes use of this aum there can be two results. All planes have two possibilities. The repetition of aum can bring about a state of sleepiness, a state of sleepy trance, and this state can be brought about by repetition of any word. The modulated repetition of any word has the same impact on the mind as gentle strokes on the head that produces drowsiness and sleep.

If this state is brought about by repetition of aum you become lost in a world of dreams and imagery which is the natural potential. It will then be a hypnotic sleep in which you can see whatever you want to see. You can travel to heaven and to hell or have a vision of God, but all this will be in dreams. you can experience bliss, you can experience peace, but all in a dream; nothing will be real.

The usage of aum happens more often, because this is easy. To produce the sound of aum loudly and be lost in it is very easy and enjoyable like pleasant dreams. The quality of the mental plane, as given by nature, is that of imagination and dreams. If the mind wishes to dream it can dream; this enjoyment is possible for it. The other possibility is that of will-power and visions of the divine.

If aum is used only as repetition upon the mind, its impact brings hypnotic sleep. What is called yoga tandra is brought about by the repetition of aum. But if aum is pronounced with the witness well established within; if you are fully awake and are listening to the sound without drowning in it, without getting lost in it; if the sound is on one plane and you are standing on another as the listener, the observer, the witness; if you are fully awake to the sound – then only can work on the second possibility of the other planes begin. Then you will not go into yoga tantra, but into yoga jagriti, wakefulness.

I personally strive to keep people away from using mantras. The chances are ninety-nine out of a hundred that the person will go into an imaginary trance. And it can make it more difficult for the meditator to become successful later on. If one is used to creating a dream state within themselves and calling that meditation, then the nervous system begin to develop groves that his or her consciousness takes habitually, and this can be difficult to overcome.

The greater possibility with chanting and mantras is that your mind with its tendency to dream will at once, by its very mechanical process, fall into dreaming. But if you are fully awake and witnessing inside, observing the sound of aum without merging into it, without losing yourself in it, then you are practicing the mantra correctly.

Now, there are also some dangers to using aum as a mantra. Aum is a symbol of the last body, what some call the seventh body. On the last boundary line of words, where we leave all words, the last word heard will be aum. So aum is the last word in the realm of speech and the primal word in the realm of no-word. It is at the boundary line between the realm of words and the no-word state. So while using the sound of aum, the meaning should remain symbolic. It can be detrimental if one begins to take their sound of aum for the actual sound. One might believe they are hearing the deepest sound, when in fact they are not. The meditator might become confident that he or she has reached the highest plane. He or she takes this to be the journey’s end; thus, great harm is done on the psychic plane. the meditator then stops here.

Just remember: Aum is the purest sound. In fact, our tongues are unable to properly pronounce it. It is too pure to be uttered by the physical body. It is a word that begins where the tongue becomes meaningless, where the body becomes useless. Therein lies its resonance and this resonance vibrates on its own. It can be experienced; it cannot be created. Therefore, aum has to be experienced and not pronounced. So if you use aum as a technique be careful not to impose your own articulation upon it. Be the witness to the pure manifestation. Use the word aum to attune your body to the aum in reality. By continued practice the actual resonance will come. Then you will be able to hear the pure reverberation of aum.

How Do We Experience Divine Union?

The veil of our separate identity is removed when we experience the explosion at the sahasrar chakra and experience union with the divine.  The explotion of the divine union happens when two energies meet, the kundalini of the individual and the divine energy. Thus, the sleeping energy within the individual must rise up to the sahasrar, the crown, and then only is the union, the explosion, possible.  No union is possible except at the point of the sahasrar.  It is just as if your doors are closed and the sun is shining outside.  The light stays outside your door.  You move inside the house up to the door, but still you will not meet the light of the sun.  Only when the door opens do you come in contact with the sunlight.

So the ultimate point of the kundalini is the sahasrar.  That is the door where grace awaits us.  The divine is always waiting at this door.  It is you who are not at the door; you are away within somewhere.  You have to come to the door.  There the union will take place, and that union will be in the form of an explosion.  It is called explosion because then you will immeditately disapear; you will no longer be.  In the happening you will be no more.  You will be lost; you will be broken and scattered; you will no longer be.  You will not be what you were behind the closed door.  All that was yours will be lost.  Only the one who waits outside the door will remain, and you will become a part, a part of the divine.  This cannot happen to you alone, by yourself.  For this explosion it is very necessary for you to reach up to the infiine cosmic energy.  The sleeping energy within has to be awakened and made to rise upwards to the sahasrar where the cosmic energy forever awaits.  The journey of the kundalini starts from your sleeping center and ends at the place, at the boundary, where you disappear.

Your kundalini is your sleeping energy.  Its boundaries extend from the sex center to the center at the top of the head.  Rightly speaking, we have two boundaries.  One is the sex center and below this center the world of nature begins.  At the center of sex there is no difference between trees, birds, animals and ourself.  This center is the ultimate limit for them, whereas for man it is the first point, the starting line.  When we are based in the sex center we too are animals.  Our other limit is the intellect.  It is near our second boundary line beyond which is the divine.  Beyond this point we are no longer ourselves; then we are the divine.  These are our two frontier lines, and between these two our energy moves.

Now, the reservoir where all our energy lies asleep is near the sex center.  That is why ninety-nine percent of man’s thoughts, dreams and activities are spend aorund this reservoir.  No matter how much culture may be displayed, whatever the false pretexts the society may bring out, man lives there and there alone.  He lives around the sex center.  If he earns money it is for sex; if he builds a house it is for sex; if he earns prestige he does so for sex.  At the root of it all we will find sex.

It is interesting that between these two extremes you cannot rest anywhere, you cannot stop anywhere.  Many people find themselves in great difficulty as they have no desire for liberation, and if for some reason they become antagonistic towards sex they find themselves in a terrible predicatment.  They start staying away from the sex center, but they won’t go anywhere near the center for liberation.  They fall into doubt and uncertainty, and that is very difficult, very painful, and really a hell. Their lives are filled with inner turmoil.

If the kundalini is at the lowest center a discharge of sexual energy is inevitable.  If it reaches the highest center explosion is certain. Both are explosions and both require the participation of the other.  In the discharge of sex the other is necessary, even if it is an imaginary other. But all your energy does not become scattered from here, because this is only the beginning point of your being.  You are much more than that, and you have progressed much from there.  The animal is fully satisfied at this point and therefore does not seek liberation.  In the realm of sex the presence of the other is required. If the other person is not present, even imagining the other produces the necessary effect. This is why is was thought that if God is present even in imagination, the explosion can take place.  If ejaculation is possible through the imagination, why cannot the energy explosion take place in the same way at the sahasrar?  Ejaculation is possible in imagination because it has actually been experienced; therefore it can be imagined.  But we have had no meeting with God, therefore He cannnot be imagined.  We can only imagine that which has been experienced by us.

Explosion is not our experience; therefore, imagination does not work here.  We will actually have to go within and then the actual happening can take place.  So the sahasrar chakra is your ultimate boundary, where you end.

We can experience this wonderful experience of sex.  Those who go deep into the expereince feel a flowering,  but it is a very fleeting experience.  Something within blossoms, but it closes again almost immeditately.  This is the difference between the two experiences.  In the sex experience the energy moves downwards; whereas in samadhi the energy moves upwards.   When we are unaware, the energy moves downwards.  Yet, when aware, the energy begins to ascend upwards towards the sahasrar.

Thus, both these things are required.  You will travel up to the sahasrar and there someone is always awaiting you.  It is not correct to say that someone will come there when you reach; that someone is already there waiting for the happening to take place in you.   The bliss of sexuality pales as a candle to sun when compared to the bliss of union with the divine.

So with all our efforts and work with the sexual energy, it’s purpose is to raise this energy with awareness till the body can no longer contain who we are, until we enter a union with the divine in what some call a cosmic orgasm, an explosion, liberation, divine union.

Vajra Bhairava, The Defender and Protector of Those on the Path

Vajra Bhariava manifesting as a bronze vajra with lightning

I am the Vajra Bhairava, the leader of the Bhairava armies
I am a warrior, and I struggle against the forces of illusion and ignorance
I also command dakinis and herukas when necessary
I emanate clouds of bhairavas for the wars of the Buddhas.
While the ultimate goals of Buddhism are peace, freedom, and awareness
In the intermediate realms, we do not have emptiness
Beings suffer tragedy, or they attack others
Out of hatred, and greed, and lust, and delusion.

Though such beings are deluded,
they may still cause great harm
This is why we have defenders of the Vajra worlds
And protectors of those on the path.

There are many categories of threatening beings
There are angry ghosts, and spirits of the dark emotions
There are demons who personify pain and horror
And repeat tragedies in the victum’s mind endlessly,
until the person goes insane
There are spirits of temptation, who at first appear beautiful
But beneath the surface, they squirm, and grasp, and strangle
The high Creation Buddhas are themselves dangerous to the weak and uncertain
For their emanations are so powerful that a person may be overwhelmed
And be unable to stand against them.

There are many dangers on the spiritual path
Some come by accident, but most result from dark karma
Which is often unknown to the seeker
This is why it is important to have a protector
And also why the protector is a wrathful deity
And one who is able to chase away the powers of ignorance and desire.

This is why lineages are important
They can assign protectors
But if a person is worthy,
he or she will be protected regardless
A spiritual person shines with an inner light
Which is invisible to the physical world,
but is visible in the other worlds.

I may be visualized as a shining moon behind thunder clouds
As a sun whose rays are shooting vajra knives and spears
As a white lion in the mountains,
leaping and flying among the rocky peaks
As a guardian statue at the entrance of a temple.

Deities do not exist, yet I defend and command them
Souls do not exist, yet I protect them
Buddhas do not exist, yet I serve them
The Void does not exist, yet all of the worlds depend upon it.

I am an armed black warrior on a winged horse, slaying ignorance
I am a naked ascetic in a cave, slaying lust
I am a bodhisattva of light, slaying hatred and illusion.

Sincere seekers may call upon me for help
But those who seek to manipulate and gain power
Will be destroyed along with their desires.

I want to learn to meditate. Where do I begin?

Meditation is an art and it is good to know where to begin.  It is just like saying, ‘I want to be a dancer.  How to begin?’

If you are just beginning meditation, a good place to start is watching the breath.

When the breath comes in and down, hold it a second and become aware of the silence there.  Then when the breath goes up and out, again, hold it there and become aware of the silence.  This exercise is to accustom you to silence.  When the breath is moving you will see mind…do not try to stop that.  But when you hold the breath for brief moment, there you can penetrate your awareness into the silence.  Just five minutes, practice.

Also watching the activity of your mind is beautiful meditation practice.  Your mind is always doing one of five things:

Right Knowledge

Wrong Knowledge

Imagination

Memory

Sleep

Sit with your eyes closed and focus your mind on the sensations you feel in the moment (air at nostrils, buttocks on cushion, birds singing, anything that is actually happening in the moment).  This is called: Right Knowledge.  Your goal is to bring your mind back to right knowledge whenever another modification has arisen.  While your mind is practicing Right Knowlege, other modifications WILL begin to arise.   Allow yourself to see them and label which modication you see.  You are either:
1.  seeing a memory…something that has happened before.
2.  you are imagining…something that might happen/you want to happen/something not real.
3.  you are reflecting wrong knowledge.  A fact that is not happening right then. (for example, you might actually have paper work on your desk at that moment, which is a fact – knowledge – but it is not a sensation at that moment.)
4.  Or you are experiencing right knowledge. A fact that is happening right then, like air on skin, buttocks on chair, fingers touching, sounds, breath at nostril, etc.  Right knowledge means your mind is in reality.  This is where you’d like it to stay, but you recognize when the other three are happening.  Enjoy watching them and label them, and come back to right knowledge.
5.  Is sleep….this just enjoy!  You may even be in deep concentration at some point and even see yourself sleeping.  But as beginners sleep may just occur.  No need to fight it.  Rest, enjoy.
Spend five minutes a day just watching this, and you will gain abilities to go deeper into the art.

Another exercise you might try is:  Emphasis the Exhale.  Mind creates such tension.  The inhale is life, and life is tension.  So to relax the mind and body, we exhale and hold it out for a moment.  Not until our body is in panic, no.  Just exhale ratio 1:2 or 1:3.  Exhale is death, relaxation.  It will give your body and mind extraordinary rest.  Try it for just five minutes.  You will see!

These exercises look simple, but they are highly effective!

I wish you perfect success in your practice.

What Are Chakras?

What are Chakras?

Chakras are energy vortices.  A series centers which help to regulate the flow of energy in the subtle body, corresponding to glands and emotions, located (approximately) along the spinal column.  Chakras can be open closed, or blocked.  They are Indo-Tibetan in origin and part of the most energy and meditative practices in the world.

The body contains seven energy centers, known as chakras:

These include the Crown (7), Third Eye (6), Throat (5), Heart (4), Sacral (3), Spleen (2), and Root Chakras (1).

Chakra Seven: Thought, Universal identity, oriented to self-knowledge.  This is the crown chakra that relates to consciousness as pure awareness.  It is our connection to the greater world beyond, to a timeless, spaceless place of all-knowing.  When developed, this chakra brings us knowledge, wisdom, understanding, spiritual connection, and bliss.

Chakra Six:  Light, Archetypal identty, oriented to self-reflection. This chakra is known as the brow chakra or third eye center.  It is related to the act of seeing, both physically and intuitively.  As such it opens our psychic faculties and our understanding of archetypal levels.  When healthy it allows us to see clearly, in effect, letting us “see the big picture.”

Charka Five:  Sound, Creative identity, oriented to self-expression.  This is the chakra located in the throat and is thus related to communication and creativity.  Here we experience the world symbolically through vibration, such as the vibration of sound representing language.

Chakra Four:  Air, Social identity, oriented to self-acceptance.  This chakra is called the heart chakra and is the middle chakra in a system of seven.  It is related to love and is the integrator of opposites in the psyce  mind and body, male and female, persona and shadow, ego and unity.  A healthy fourth chakra allows us to love deeply, feel compassion, have a deep sense of peace and centeredness.

Chakra Three:  Fire, Ego identity, oriented to self-definition.  This chakra is known as the power chakra, located in the solar plexus.  It rules our personal power, will, and autonomy, as well as our metabolism.  When healthy, this chakra brings us energy, effectiveness, metabolism.  When healthy, this charka brings us energy, effectiveness, spontaneity, and non-dominating power.

Chakra Two:  Water, Emotional identity, oriented to self-gratification.  The second chakra, located in the abdomen, lower back, and sexual organs, is related to the element water, and to emotions and sexuality.  It connects us to others through feeling, desire, sensation, and movement.  Ideally this chakra brings us fluidity and grace, depth of feeling, sexual fulfillment, and the ability to accept change.

Chakra One:  Earth, Physical identity, oriented to self-preservation.  Located at the base of the spine, this chakra froms our foundation.  It represents the element earth, and is therefore related to our survival instincts, and to our sense of grounding and connection to our bodies and the physical plane.  Ideally this chakra brings us health, prosperity , security, and dynamic presence.
