O, Sherry, this is most disconcerting. I have been researching and called two psychologists and even spoke with a gentleman that is a psychic and medium. Ryan is like my Karl...very sensitive and what is called a 'feeling' type. I must carefully watch out for Karl, making sure the other four do not torture him in arguement. He too has nightmares if I don't. He has the tendency to absorb the trauma and then cry and scream at nite. I've had to have very stressful family pow-wows insisting that under no circumstance is anyone to speak harshly to Karl. Of course, I do not wish it for any of them, but particularly him. Maybe Ryan too is "working out" the stress during the day. I had asked a psychic if he felt it could be spirits, and he suggeted that it was most, most unlikely. Watching what he suffers during the day may be helpful. Otherwise, it might help to take him to a professional child psychologist...or at least call their office and see what they might suggest.

Lots of reassurance, hugs, and cuddles and watching that he's not suffering undue stress during the day, and if you do not see changes, I would begin to seek professional help.

I had a friend in Florida whose son was also acting in ways that you describe and it was the stress he sufffered at school and the relationship with his father that brought the condition on. He would have nightmares and began even to develop twitches. But after the stress factors were removed he recovered beautifully.

Please keep me informed what happens. And...I'll call you! Love, Your Sister

Hello, Hope you are doing well. I have a question - Ryan is having night terrors. Night Terrors is the best way I know how to describe it. He is asleep with his eyes open but in a true state of sleep and is witnessing something horrific. He terrifies me, I can try to speak to him to wake him; and he just says, "stop talking." Last night was the worst one yet. He stands, moves around, lays on the floor, cries, holds his hands to his mouth in pure fear of what he is seeing. It's been going on for a few weeks now. He use to have them long ago but not to this extent.. Any suggestions? If he sleeps with me, he usually does not have them.. What's weird, is last night I was working late; and Trouble, our dog, started her whining first; and about 5 minutes later, Ryan was experiencing his bad dream. He sees me; and hears me; but it is not easy to wake him up. Thus is the whole life and world; but for the here and now that we are dealt with; can you help me with this situation? Love you much!! Your Sister!

Sherry, Hi! I like your comment. Tantra has something to say of that. It is interesting to me. Tantra says there are three levels of being:
One: You are effected by everything around you. Everything around you decides how you are, how you feel. Whatever happens or does not happen, determines your mind, your feelings and ideas. In a sense, You are Powerless. This is the first type of being. This person depends on the outside. What happens and does not happen decides how they feel. They are powerless.
Two: You've decided to become more Powerful. You find a practice, a method, a way of behaving that keeps you aware. YOU decide how you'll approach a situation. You decide how you'll respond and you don't allow the outside to effect you. You're not as effected. But you're still in danger because you might fall asleep again, and something may begin to change you again, effect you. You're not as Powerless as before, yet still you can fall. This is the second type, or stage. This is the person who has decided to not allow the outside to effect them. They are challenged, but still they are going in the right direction.
Third: You are completely self-centered. Now your energy is totally centered within yourself. Nothing outside effects you. You have a Center. Interestingly, YOU become Powerful. Without trying everything changes because of YOU. You don't mean to, it is just the law. Just as Person Number One was completely helpless to the outside...the opposite is of Number Three, everything outside changes because of being in contact with this Powerful person. This Centered Person.

Watching the breath is a Powerful Technique; a technique to help you become more powerful. One technique you might try involves exhaling. Exhale and hold it out for a moment and look at the situation. If your breath is out of your body, in a sense nothing can effect you, because nothing can touch you, breath is the bridge. As a practice, just sit for five minutes a day and practice exhaling. Exhale and hold the breath out for a moment, then let the breath come in by itself. Repeat this for five minutes. The emphasis is on the exhale. And the inbreath comes in on its own. Try this and see how you feel. And when you're in a situation that is disturbing you, begin to exhale and hold it a second and look at the situation, and you will be able to see you're different than the situation, you can find way to respond, instead of react. It is the beginning of becoming Powerful! If you practice for five minutes a day, you will notice a great difference in your reaction time! Also, this technique is very relaxing for the body and mind. It is healing for the body and mind. Let me know if you try it! I'd love to hear the result. These simple techniques can be underestimated because they look so easy. Don't let that fool you. They are remarkably effective!
Thank you, Sherry, for sharing.

Hello, The above blog, about attempting to be happier when something else happens or is different is how I have thought of things forever; I was going to type "for years"; but I think the word forever is a better fit. I always think and beleive we should live in the here and now; but I've never thought of making the here and now only happy, good, and peaceful. I just have always thought that those items would follow; just get through this day; and then tomorrow will be better. But we just have to make sure we think that today is better than yesterday in some type of media in the brain; this I know will have to be trained as well; because right now that media in the brain is struggeling with so many different things.

So can you get a webcam; and figure out a way, I can see your class on line at night with you guys.

Hi Pam! It is so good to see your words! In the Zen class we took three of the chakras, Physical (at the root of the spine), Sexual (little above the pubic bone), and emotional (at the belly button).

We ask the question: On a scale of one to ten, how much do you accept your physical body. Numbers were usually not over five. We looked into how we can find at least one way we can come to greater peace with our body. It can be very draining these little thoughts that we hold about ourself. The constant comparing we do to the ideal self.

We asked the same of the sexual and emotional. Both were usually rated less than five. This can mean we are functioning certainly less than optimal, and a great deal can be accomplished, in terms of saving energy, just by changing our attitude. And then, of course, finding little ways we can relate to ourselves that bring satisfaction and connection to what we are. These small changes in attitude, and the little efforts we make towards our bodies, our sexuality and feelings can literally change your whole world. And if done daily, there isn't a way to calculate the difference it can make. Done daily, you will become Divine!

Naming a few things like cooking a nice meal, and placing flowers at the table, gardening were actually some of the ideas for increasing sexuality. Everyone has their way of expressing themself.

Emotionally learning to recognize the difference between their feelings and others' feelings were discussed. An unusual amount of energy is lost in living other people's emotions. Learning to let others have their emotions and you deciding what are yours, is a great energy saver!

Even though Zen, particularly zazen, is pure sitting, pure sitting, in this class we do explore other areas, so that ultimately our sitting will be successful! We sat and meditated for 20 minutes just on the three chakras, breathing gently into them, and coming into contact with the attitudes we hold. Then we also gently stimulate the mental, heart, social, throat, third eye and crown. We'll continue to explore the chakras. And thank you so much for joining us!

Hi,
Focusing on rejecting, condemning, or not accepting oneself is counterproductive to growth. They are such negative concepts. Yeah, I could go there (and have) but I would prefer not to give those thoughts any merit. I am working on my self empowerment, staying centered in the now, and being true to myself. The only reason I sometimes feel low or weak is because I have lost my focus. How wonderful that people around me contantly keep me on my toes!
